Synthesis gas compressors, often simply called syn gas compressors, are designed to compress a mixed gas, usually consisting of H2, CO, and CO2, to a relatively higher pressure for use in further processing.
Syngas often comes from the gasification of biomass, coal, or natural gas.
The compressors must be oil-free and 100% gas-tight. They must also be made from materials capable of withstanding the high concentration of aggressive, highly corrosive substances that may be present in the synthesis gas. They are usually made from stainless steel.
Usage
Widespread in oil refineries, for the production of fertilisers/ammonia, and in plants that convert biogas into green energy.
